Biography
Timothy D. Brewerton, M.D., DLFAPA, FAED, DFAACAP, CEDS-S, is an experienced clinician, researcher, teacher, mentor, writer, editor, and advocate, as well as a recognized leader in the area of eating disorders. He is currently affiliate professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, where he is in private practice, and is also Director of Clinical Outcomes and Research for Monte Nido and Affiliates in Miami, Florida.
Dr. Brewerton is a Distinguished Life Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association; Distinguished Fellow of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry; Founding Fellow of the Academy of Eating Disorders; founding member and former President of the Eating Disorders Research Society; and former President of the South Carolina Psychiatric Association. He holds board certifications in General, Child-Adolescent, Forensic Psychiatry, and Addiction Medicine. He has authored over 160 articles and book chapters and has edited or co-edited other books.
