Biography
Dr. Michael Jibson is a professor of Psychiatry, the Director of Psychiatry Residency Education, and the Associate Chair for Education and Academic Affairs at the University of Michigan (U-M), where he has been a faculty member since 1993. He is an attending psychiatrist on the Adult Inpatient Psychiatry Program at U-M Hospital.
He obtained a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the University of California San Francisco; did postdoctoral work in Chemical Immunology at the Weizmann Institute; received his medical degree from the University of California Davis; and completed his residency and fellowship training in Psychiatry at Stanford University. He has served as a member of the American Psychiatric Association Council on Medical Education and the Steering Committee of the American Association of Directors of Psychiatry Residency Training, and as President of the Association for Academic Psychiatry.
Dr. Jibson’s scholarly activity includes research and educational materials on psychotic disorders (especially schizophrenia), antipsychotic medications, and issues in medical education. He is the author of over 90 peer-reviewed journal articles, book chapters, and media and web-based presentations, including chapters on antipsychotics, psychosis, and schizophrenia for the online clinical decision support resource UpToDate.
