Biography
Dr. Franklin King IV, MD, serves as the Director of Training and Education at the Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) Center for the Neuroscience of Psychedelics and holds a faculty position as a Clinical Instructor at Harvard Medical School. His primary clinical and research focus is on the application of psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy for the treatment of persistent psychiatric conditions, such as depression and anxiety disorders. Dr. King is particularly interested in optimizing these therapeutic interventions to meet the needs of diverse patient populations. In addition to his research and clinical work, Dr. King is actively involved in the education and supervision of psychiatry residents and fellows at MGH. He also maintains a clinical practice as a staff psychiatrist at the Center for Anxiety and Traumatic Stress Disorders and provides care on the Acute Psychiatry Service in the Emergency Department.
Dr. King earned his medical degree from the University of Massachusetts. He then completed his psychiatry residency at Massachusetts General Hospital and McLean Hospital, where he served as Chief Resident on the Consultation-Liaison Service. Following his residency, he pursued advanced training through a fellowship in Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry and a research fellowship with the MGH Cardiac Psychiatry Research Program.
